Rev. N. Johnson

Rev. N. Johnson — Senior PastorRev. N. Johnson — Senior Pastor, FLAG Church

Rev. N. Johnson’s life is a testimony of God’s transforming grace.

Born and raised in a Hindu family in a small village in India, Johnson began searching for God at just 13 years of age. His search eventually led him through doubt, atheism, and a life of emptiness. Everything changed when he attended a Christmas service following an invitation from a family friend. On September 3, 1989, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized.

DIVINE ENCOUNTER & CALL TO MINISTRY

While working as a machine operator, Johnson experienced a powerful call from God to surrender his life to ministry. Leaving his career, he pursued theological education at Southern Asia Bible College, Bangalore, graduating with a Bachelor of Theology in 1997. He subsequently served alongside respected ministers in Bangalore and Chennai, gaining valuable experience in ministry.

In 1998, he married Jemimah, and together they moved to Thiruverkadu to pioneer a church. What began as a step of faith has grown into a ministry that continues to touch and bless countless lives.

FAMILY & TODAY’S IMPACT

Today, Rev. Johnson holds a Master’s in Theology and is pursuing his Doctorate. Together with his wife, he continues to serve God faithfully, carrying the same passion that began with his own encounter with Christ.

His journey is a reminder that God can transform a searching heart into a surrendered life—and use that life to transform others.

From Two People to thousands

In October 1998, Rev. D. Mohan, Chief Pastor of New Life A.G. Church and General Superintendent of the All India Assemblies of God, sent Pr. N. Johnson to pioneer a church in Thiruverkadu—a rapidly growing pilgrimage town where churches were few and the spiritual need was great.

The journey began humbly. On November 7, 1998, the first Sunday service was held in a rented house with just two people. Opposition was strong, but faith remained stronger. In the midst of threats, closed doors, and many challenges, God began to build His church.

Within two years, the congregation had grown to around 120 people. In 2003, God provided land for a new church hall, and the congregation continued to multiply. Even when the building was demolished in 2005 due to a government project, God opened another door. New land was purchased, and on May 8, 2008, the present church building was dedicated.

What began with two people in a small rented house has, by God's grace, grown into a vibrant family of around 1,400 active members, with 16 branch churches, 2 house churches, and 7 missionaries supported every month.

Through every challenge, one truth has remained constant:

God is faithful.
